The client is a Mexican-based package delivery and logistics company, very much like DHL or UPS. They are based in Cuernavaca, Mexico and have offices throughout Mexico, the US and Canada.
The project was centered on the development of an application dedicated to comparing the data from two different systems that are used for the tracking of packages at the local distribution center level. The two systems program the messenger’s routes at the beginning of each day and track packages throughout the delivery process.
The core of the system is a reporting engine that collects and contrasts the information generated from the two systems and tells the operator if there are differences in the data. Originally the system was based in Excel worksheets and they wanted it automated with a java developed application.
